Travel Advice and Immunisations
What do we do?
Our practice Nurses offer a Travel Advice and Immunisation Service. They offer help with:
-
Vaccinations
-
Malaria advice (including using tablets and avoiding bites)
-
Sexual Health (how to stay well)
-
Looking after your skin (sun burn and heat rash)
Time needs to be given so that you can get the correct advice and vaccinations.
What do you need to do?
You need to collect a Travel Vaccination from from the Surgery and complete before the Receptionist is able to book you an appointment to see one of the Practice Nurses.
When you have completed the form, take it into Reception. The Nurse will look at the form to check that you actually need an appointment. If you do require an appointment you will be contacted to arrange this.
Please be aware that you should be arranging your vaccinations at least 8 weeks before you travel.
If you leave it longer than 8 weeks we may need to advise you to seek guidance from a local travel specialist clinic. If you require more detailed travel advice, there are a few web sites you could have a look at:
There is also a booklet you can get from the Post Office with an E111 (European Union Travel Insurance form).
Payments
Almost most of the travel vaccinations are available on the NHS. There are some that you will be charged for.
